Thanks to composite materials, the reconnaissance drone is extremely light and fast. The built-in battery allows the drone to perform missions for up to 45 minutes.
Ukrainian company ALTAIR Technologies exhibited its Loki unmanned aerial vehicle at the World Defense Expo 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This was reported by the Militarny website.
The Loki drone has a length of 1 m and a wingspan of 1.5 m and can perform flight missions that last a maximum of 45 minutes. The 45 km flight range can be increased by 2 km. A small drone with a maximum take-off weight of 4 to 4.5 kg can carry a payload of 0.6-1.7 kg. The UAV reaches a maximum flight altitude of 1500 m and has a cruising speed of 72 km/h with a possible speed range from 60 km/h to 150 km/h.
Loki’s lightweight and durable body is made of composite materials. The drone’s engine and systems are powered by a 16.8V lithium polymer or lithium ion battery. The drone uses communication frequencies of 900 MHz and 433 MHz, and there is also a separate additional channel for control and video. The UAV receives telemetry and video signals from a distance of 10 – 25 km. Loki is launched from pneumatic launchers and performs a short takeoff and a horizontal landing.
ALTAIR Technologies is a developer and manufacturer of combat and reconnaissance drones, as well as the means to combat them. The company has a scientific and production base in Ukraine and the UAE.
ALTAIR Technologies became a member of the National Association of Defense Industries of Ukraine (NAUDI) in 2023. The Loki UAV was introduced at the joint NAUDI stand along with products from other Ukrainian drone developers.
In addition to Loki, two models of the already well-known Gore drones and Shark reconnaissance drones are also on display at the exhibition. Shark drones were introduced in October 2022.
More than 50 aircraft in total are on display at the World Defense Show 2024, which will be held between 4-8 February. Many countries brought samples of planes and helicopters, some put on spectacular displays.
