Taiwan’s Ambassador to the United States, Alexander Yu, recently said that China is trying to compete with Taiwan in the chip industry through methods such as theft and deception. He believes that neither these unpleasant steps nor large investments in the development of the semiconductor industry have brought the desired results to the PRC, Reuters reported.
Alexander Yu doubts that his statements about China’s ability to independently produce advanced chips for next-generation smartphones are true. He noted that this has been disrupted by American sanctions and Western countries having more resources and opportunities to develop their own semiconductors.
“They don’t follow the rules. They cheat, copy, etc. They steal technology,” Yui said of Chinese chip makers.
Taiwan has launched an investigation into several Chinese companies suspected of illegally hunting down engineers and other experts.
