PLANS FOR NEW MODELS

According to Nikkei, Sony Honda Mobility will debut in 2025 sedan. Then they will follow SUV in 2027 AND in 2028 what is defined as “compact” the size of a Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Golf. A model that will be offered at a “more affordable” price.

The joint venture intends to strengthen its development structure. The company began hiring engineers in January and its goal is to double its workforce to about 500 employees. Coming back to the cars, it is clear that all three models will use the same platform to reduce costs and speed up development. In particular, the “compact” model will also share parts with Honda’s electric vehicles.

The Afeela brand’s first model, a sedan, is expected to be launched at a price of over 10 million yen, which is just under 62,000 euros at the exchange rate. However, Sony and Honda will not be able to carve out a place in the electric vehicle market only through premium models. For this reason, a more affordable model will also be offered.

The joint venture is also developing several additional features that buyers will be able to purchase for their vehicles. For example, there will be no shortage of games to run on infotainment systems.
