With BMW Vision Neue Klasse concept car previewing future electric SUVs on the Neue Klasse platform, starting with the first one, which will debut in 2025. After the presentation of the prototype, the manufacturer wanted to tell us more about the features that we will find on its new generation of electric vehicles.
Apparently electric Neue Klasse can count on Support bi-directional charging which will allow the energy of the traction battery to be used to power external devices or even houses. In particular, cars will have functions “Car to Home”, “Car to Grid” and “Car to Load”.
The German car manufacturer will thus offer a complete ecosystem of charging solutions. In more detail, thanks to “Car to home”, the car can be used as a kind of storage system, storing the energy produced by the photovoltaic system and then using it to power the home. However, to do this you will need the new BMW DC Wallbox Professional.
Instead, thanks to “Vehicle to network”, the energy contained in the traction battery can be supplied to the power grid. Users will be able to make a small profit from “selling” energy. However, this feature will only be available in select markets where it is permitted by law.
Finally, by using the “Car to boot” option, the car it can power external electrical devices. Let’s think, for example, not only about computers and tablets, but also about the possibility of recharging the batteries of e-bikes and electric scooters.
