Official Israel is “alarmed” by Prince William’s call to end conflict in Gaza. But he “doesn’t want to get into a public scandal with the future king.”

He continued: “Like many people, I want the conflicts to end as soon as possible. There is an urgent need to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza. It is critical that the aid be delivered and the hostages are released.”
He concluded his poignant speech by saying that the importance of lasting peace is only realized “when we are confronted with the enormous scale of humanity.”
William concluded: “Even in our darkest hour we must not succumb to the counsels of despair. I continue to hold on to the hope that a brighter future can be found, and I refuse to give it up.”
Experts believe that he thought long and hard about how to talk about what was happening and how to do it correctly. But perhaps because of his experience as the first royal to visit Israel and the West Bank in 2018 and the continuation of the conflict, he decided that the potential benefits outweighed the risk of being accused of overstepping his constitutional role.
Israel was reportedly surprised by the prince’s statement, as members of the royal family do not usually speak out on such matters. But The Telegraph claims that although Israel is “panicked”, it does not want to risk conflict with the future king of Great Britain.

Prince William’s press statement also comes ahead of the Prince of Wales’s visit to the British Red Cross in London to discuss the growing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and beyond.
His announcement was made with the knowledge of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and was welcomed by Downing Street, which said his “measured” call for a cessation of hostilities was consistent with the Government’s position.
Royal aides stressed that it was “the scale of human suffering that prompted him to make such a statement.”
They did not confirm whether this was supported by the king. But father and son met over the weekend in Norfolk, where Charles is recovering from cancer treatment.
But the statement also leaves the heir to the throne facing accusations of interference.
Israeli government spokesman and State Department official Eilon Levy gave a more diplomatic response to the prince’s intervention, saying: “The Israelis, of course, want the hostilities to end as soon as possible, and this will be possible after the rescue of 134 hostages. After their release, Hamas said it would “repeat the October 7 atrocity.” The threatening terrorist army will be dispersed. We appreciate the Prince of Wales’s call for the release of hostages from Hamas. We also remember with gratitude the October 11 statement condemning Hamas terrorist attacks and confirming Israel’s right to self-defense against them.”
