The European Commission has prepared a new project of financial assistance to Ukraine for 8 billion euros to replace the one previously blocked by Germany. Note that information about this appeared shortly after the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky accused the European Union of unwillingness to give Ukraine 8 billion euros. This state of affairs, according to the president, is “a crime or a mistake.”
According to the new scheme, the EU, as the interlocutors of the publication explained, can allocate up to five billion euros of long-term loans under guarantees provided by European countries, based on their contribution to the EU budget. Interest payments will be subsidized from the EU budget.
The rest of the amount (about three billion euros), as emphasized in the publication, will be provided in the form of grants.
