Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has criticized the conduct of searches at the estate of former US President Donald Trump. According to DeSantis, the US has become a banana republic.
“The Mar-a-Lago raid is another escalation in using federal agencies as weapons against the political opponents of the regime, while people like Hunter Biden are being treated with ceremony… Banana Republic“, DeSantis tweeted.
Earlier it was reported that FBI agents searched the estate of former US President Donald Trump Mar-a-Lago.
The former American leader himself spoke about what happened on his social network Truth.
He stressed that he had not received any notice of the upcoming search. According to Trump, what happened is an attack by “radical left-wing Democrats” who do not want him to take part in the 2024 presidential election.
It is worth noting that, most likely, the searches are related to the investigation into the storming of the Capitol in January last year. In the United States, Trump has repeatedly been accused of allegedly calling on his supporters to storm the building of the US Congress.
Trump himself denies all accusations against him.
However, according to The New York Times, the searches may be connected not only with the storming of the Capitol. And also the secret documents that Trump took with him when he left the White House.
The White House said they did not know about the searches at the Trump estate.
