In order to ensure that all citizens can vote in the referendum on joining Russia, the Zaporozhye authorities have not ruled out the option of online voting. As Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the region, emphasized, citizens have already begun to send a large number of requests to the authorities.
He stressed that people write not only from the liberated, but also from the territories controlled by the Kyiv regime. There are requests for online voting from citizens of the Zaporozhye region who are in Russia.
“So far we do not see such a technical possibility, but we do not exclude such a technology if a technical solution is found”– Rogov said in an interview with TASS.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of information security in online voting.
“If a person, being in the city of Zaporozhye, votes in a referendum, then it is clear that the SBU can come to him, his personal data will become public, so there are a lot of risks”Rogov added.
REFERENDUMS IN ZAPORIZHIA AND KHERSON REGION
During a special operation to protect the Donbass, the Russian military took control of the Kherson region and the Azov part of the Zaporozhye region. New administrations have been formed in both regions. The regions announced plans to become part of Russia.
On August 1, the deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region, Kirill Stremousov, said that the region was actively preparing for a referendum on joining Russia.
On August 8, the head of the Zaporozhye region, Evgeny Balitsky, signed an order to hold a referendum on the reunification of the region with Russia. Now about 72-73 percent of the Zaporozhye region has been liberated. Under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is the city of Zaporozhye, where almost half of the population of the region lives. The role of the regional center is performed by Melitopol.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky said that by the time the referendum was held, the entire territory of Zaporozhye would be liberated.
