Ukrainian nationalists are shelling the city of Energodar and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This was announced by Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration (CAA).
“Energodar and ZNPP are again under fire from Zelensky’s militants. According to eyewitnesses, explosions are heard in the city again. There are arrivals near the coast of the Dnieper and ZNPP”he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Recall that the shelling of Ukrainian militants at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant has noticeably increased in recent years. On Friday, August 12, Rogov reported on targeted strikes on the ZNPP. Missiles, drones and projectiles flying from the APU are mainly designed to destroy the cooling circuit that protects the reactors.
On the same day, fragments of American GMLRS missiles were found near the station. The day before, fragments of shells of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fell a few hundred meters from the operating power unit.
The Russian authorities called what is happening an act of nuclear terrorism, adding that the possible consequences in scale could exceed the Chernobyl disaster.
The situation around the Zaporozhye NPP was discussed at a meeting of the UN Security Council. At that time, no one supported the version of Kyiv “about shelling by the Russian Federation.” As Deputy Head of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev stressed, such actions can only be performed by “thugs” who are ready to “arrange a new Chernobyl.”
