Robot-sapper “Passage” is used in a special operation to protect the Donbass

The unique sapper robot “Prokhod” is used by the Russian army as part of a special operation to protect Donbass. Vladimir Pimenov, the general director of the enterprise-developer VNII Signal, told about this.

This project was commissioned by the Ministry of Defense. “Prohod” is a remote-controlled robotic complex. The development has passed state tests and is now being used in the zone of the special operation to clear the liberated territories of Donbass“, – he explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The interlocutor also added that “Prokhod” is currently the only sapper robot capable of withstanding several detonations of a powerful anti-tank mine, and also continue to work.

According to Pimenov, unlike the Uran-6 sapper robots used in Syria, Prokhod is a vehicle for clearing roads for military convoys.

That is, “Uran-6” is intended to a greater extent for humanitarian demining, and “Prokhod” is for demining roads along which tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and other military equipment immediately follow the robot.“, he explained.

Thus, the width of the demining strip corresponds to the width of the passage of the tank. In addition, “Prokhod” can imitate the modes of operation of heavy equipment, which are triggered by “smart” anti-tank mines.

Recall that the Russian engineering troops in the Donbass are clearing agricultural fields, the harvest on which can already be harvested, but there is a high probability of running into explosives left by Ukrainian militants. “Izvestia” showed how the demining of such objects is being carried out.
