In September, the Vilnius authorities are dismantling Soviet sculptures located at the Antakalnis cemetery. This was reported to BNS in the Vilnius municipality.
Now, as noted, the decision of the council on the transfer of sculptures to trust management is being prepared. After that, specialists will quickly dismantle the structures.
“Grinda has already held market consultations on the method of dismantling and is ready to get the job done. The board meeting is scheduled for September 14,” – added in the municipality.
In June, politicians from the Vilnius municipality decided to remove six granite figurative stelae that depicted Soviet soldiers from World War II. Prior to this, the Office for the Protection of Heritage decided to remove the sculptures from the register of immovable cultural property.
Previously REN TV wrote that the remains of Soviet soldiers from “unsuitable places” would be reburied in Estonia.
