Due to the energy crisis in Europe, there may be a shortage of toilet paper. Such information was reported on August 26 by Metsä Tissue.
This organization is one of the largest manufacturers of tissue paper in the European Union. But due to high electricity prices, she has to reduce production.
“In recent weeks, Metsä Tissue has been forced to reduce production at its plants in Zilina and Kreuzau for several days due to high electricity prices. In the context of high energy prices, further production cuts are likely, which could also affect the availability of daily products at markets as there will be significant daily production losses”the statement says.
The company stressed that the rise in electricity prices makes it difficult for Metsä Tissue to do business in all European markets.
“We have explored all possible measures to improve energy efficiency and efforts are ongoing to replace Russian gas with alternative energy sources. We have also been forced to reconsider our proposal and the crisis will also accelerate the transition to a strategy focused on fresh fiber, which reduces energy consumption while paper production compared to recycled fiber”– said the representative of the organization Tobias Lüning.
Metsä Tissue is the manufacturer of brands such as Lambi, Serla, Mola, Tento, Katrin and SAGA.
Recall that earlier, due to high energy prices, the Germans were advised to wipe themselves with a rag instead of a shower.
