President Joe Biden plans to deliver a speech on Thursday saying that “America’s rights and freedoms are still under threat.”a message he already made in 2020 during his campaign, and which he repeated at the Democrats’ special event this month.
“He will make it clear who is fighting for these rights, fighting for these freedoms, and fighting for our democracy,” an official told NBC News, the first publication to report on the plan.
Biden’s message takes on special significance with the Nov. 8 election process and the risk of Democrats losing control of Congress.
The report indicates that the speech will be from Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park, where the president will focus on the “ongoing battle for the soul of the nation,” for democracy in the country.
It also highlights that Biden’s strategy is part of his increased travel to report on the progress of their agenda after the approval of the CHIPS and Inflation Reduction Actand recent executive decisions, including the cancellation of student debt, which will benefit more than 40 million people.
The President is resuming part of his campaign in 2020 dedicated to the spirit of the nation’s founding fathers and the importance of defending democracy.
“I think we are fighting for the soul of this country,” Biden said at a Democratic National Committee reception in Maryland this month. “And I think Americans are waking up to the reality that things have changed so drastically that we’d better get them back on track sooner rather than later.”
In the same message, the president questioned whether the United States had doubts about the electoral process and blamed it on MAGA movement “went too far”.
“Did you ever think that you would see a time when we have elections and there will be a fight over who will be the election commissioner so that they can count the votes independently…?” Biden asked. “This is where, this is where we are now. So we have to win.”
