Texas authorities on Thursday rescued 84 migrants from the back of a tractor. in an area close to the southern border.

The asylum seekers were discovered after youn A Weslako resident saw a truck unload people outside an apartment building in a small town, Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra.

The city is located about 8 miles north of the US-Mexico border.

The man called the police to report that a tractor trailer had driven up to a residential building located in the area and saw people getting out of the car.

Guerra said authorities are investigating a possible case of human smuggling. Additional details, including conditions and arrests of migrants, were not immediately available.

According to reports, The migrant truck was featured in a TikTok video a day earlier asking someone to drive a trailer from McAllen to Houston for $70,000.It is reported by FoxNews.

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed to the media that the video is related to 84 migrants found in Hidalgo County..

The department has seen an increase in videos like this looking for drivers to smuggle migrants across the country, Christopher Olivares, spokesman for the Texas DPS, told Fox News.

“That’s why we’re seeing an increase in cases of human trafficking along the border,” Olivares said. “Many people from major metropolitan areas such as Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and even other states are being recruited as drivers through social media platforms to smuggle undocumented immigrants.”
