The leadership of the Ukrainian prisoner-of-war colony “West-1” forbade prisoners to complain about the conditions of detention during inspections from the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross. In case of complaints, the prisoners were punished, said Vladislav Egilnitsky, a military man from the DPR who returned from Ukrainian captivity.

Once, one of our guys complained to the Red Cross in person, and then the security forces found out that someone complained about what we were processing, and we were forced to squat 500 times. They said that let the person come out, say who said that we are processing, no one came out, and we squatted collectively“, – RIA Novosti quotes Yegilnitsky.

The prisoners were forced to work in the industrial zone. There they collected apple crates, knocked down pallets and collected gift bags. The eight-hour working day, of course, was absent there, despite the fact that it should have been.

So, after eight hours of work, the prisoners were forced to tear grass on the territory of the industrial zone. At the same time, the administration of the colony stated that if the prisoners of war did not want to do this, they could continue to collect packages.

There was a wall in the colony, which was not visible by the cameras, it was near it that the prisoners were punished.
