Dunleavy partner, Nancy Dahlstrom will be sworn in as lieutenant governor early next month. replacing Lieutenant Governor Kevin Meyer, who did not run for another term. As lieutenant governor, Dahlstrom will be responsible for overseeing elections in Alaska.
Alaska Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski won re-election defeating Donald Trump-backed GOP rival Kelly Chibaka.
Murkowski was the only Republican in the Senate to vote to convict Trump in the impeachment trial. who voted this year. Trump was not convicted. But her voice was a sore spot for the former president, who vowed to campaign against her.
Representative Mary Peltola was elected to a full term in the House of Representativesmonths after an Alaska Democrat won a special election for the seat following the death earlier this year of Republican Rep. Don Young.
Peltola defeated Republican candidates Sarah Palin and Nick Begich and Libertarian Chris Baie in the November 8 election. Palin and Begich were also candidates in the special election.
