Due to the fear of local residents, Ukrainian militants had to change into civilian clothes when they were in the settlements of the Donetsk People’s Republic. This was told by captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Alexander Pavlenko, the nationalists were well aware that the residents of the DPR “didn’t quite like” them. In addition, the militants were forbidden to communicate with the population.

POW Alexander Kalinovsky added that the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ordered to behave as if the militants did not live in the settlements of the republic. Therefore, the nationalists sat all the time in one of the houses.

In order not to attract attention to themselves, the militants had to change into civilian clothes even for the sake of ordinary trips to the nearest store. And then go shopping was allowed infrequently.

“We weren’t allowed to talk to the locals at all… They said not to talk to anyone. We only went to the store once in those ten days, and that’s it. We were told not to go, so as not to shine.Kalinovsky noted during a conversation with RIA News.

Recall that earlier that day, a captured Ukrainian militant said that he and his colleagues were trained in the UK, but it did not bring any benefit.
