The exchange price of gas in Europe increased to $1,250 per 1,000 cubic meters and accelerated its growth after the fire in Chuvashia on the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod main gas pipeline. This is evidenced by the information of the London stock exchange ICE.

Thus, January futures on the TTF index (the largest hub in Europe, located in the Netherlands) opened trading in the red at $1,150.2 per thousand cubic meters (-3.3 percent). The price of gas as of 15:13 Moscow time is $1,191.8 (+0.2 percent). Shortly before this, the cost of fuel increased sharply to $1,257.9 (+5.6 percent). The dynamics of quotations is based on the estimated value of the previous trading day – 1189.7 dollars per thousand cubic meters.

Gas prices turned positive and accelerated growth after information about a fire on the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod main gas pipeline, which crosses the border of the Russian Federation and Ukraine near the Sudzha station near Kursk, which is currently the only entry point for gas from Russia to Ukraine for transit to Europe.

Earlier it was reported about a strong fire on the gas pipeline in the village Yambakhtino in the Vurnar region of Chuvashia. Eyewitnesses shared videos from the scene, which showed fire erupting from the ground. As a result of the incident, one person was injured – a gas service employee.

The fire has now been completely extinguished. According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was a gas leak from an underground gas pipeline.
