In 2022, the demand for steaks has dropped sharply in the world. This happened due to rising prices for beef, journalists found out. Bloomberg.

The drop was especially sharp in countries where this dish is traditionally eaten: in the USA, Great Britain, Argentina and Brazil. As evidence, the agency cited South American statistics. So, over the past 16 years, a resident of Argentina, on average, began to consume 21.5 kg less beef, only 47.2 kg per year. But the demand for chicken over the past 20 years has grown almost 2.5 times: from 18 to 46 kg per year.

41-year-old Buenos Aires resident Omar Anibal Sosa said that a few years ago he bought steaks “kilograms” and cooked them every weekend. And now he does it much less often. For example, the last time a man cooked a steak was more than a month ago.

“Barbecuing is a luxury these days”Sosa added.

According to NielsenIQ analysts, the demand for beef in the UK and the US also declined – by 5.8% and 4% respectively. The forecast for price increases remains.
