Bust of Soviet General Vatutin was dismantled near Kharkov

In the Kharkiv region, the authorities dismantled the bust of the Hero of the Soviet Union, General of the Army Nikolai Vatutin. The monument was erected in the village of Getmanovka, KharkivToday reported.

The bust was removed, after which it was deposited in the department of communal property. Then they are going to transfer it to a special room, where they will exhibit monuments related to Russia and the USSR.

January 27 REN TV wrote that the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine recommended the administration of Kyiv to dismantle the monument to Vatutin over his grave in Mariinsky Park.

ONNikolai Vatutin commanded the First Ukrainian Front during the battle for the Dnieper and the liberation of Kyiv. He died in the Ukrainian capital in 1944.

The authorities of Ukraine began to demolish Soviet monuments in 2015, after the adoption of the law “On the condemnation of the communist and Nazi regimes.” With the beginning of the special operation, it was decided to put all the monuments associated with the USSR and Russia under the bucket, regardless of the period.
