“Negotiations are frustrated”: China urges Europe to jointly stop the war in Ukraine (video)

According to Wang Yi, head of the Foreign Relations Office of the China Company Central Committee, “certain forces” pursuing far greater goals than Ukraine are hindering the resolution of the conflict.

Wang Yi, head of the Foreign Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that peace talks between Ukraine and Russia were interrupted by the outbreak of an all-out war. His speech at the Munich Security Conference on February 18 was quoted by the South China Morning Post.

According to Wang Yi, China favors a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The Chinese diplomat claimed that the Russia-Ukraine talks were interrupted by a third party.

“We don’t know why the process was interrupted. Some powers may not want peace talks to take place. They don’t care if Ukrainians live and die or if Europe is harmed,” the Chinese representative said. “Their strategic goals may be greater than Ukraine itself.”

Reuters reported that Wang Yi advised European politicians that “everyone should start thinking calmly about how to stop this war”, while the Chinese did not want to “fog the fire”. Soon, China will issue an official document confirming its position on this issue, especially a call for the territorial integrity of all countries.

Wang Yi also urged Europe to work with China to prevent a future cold war. The official, who met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on the sidelines of the conference, conveyed that Chinese officials are ready to “completely restart” relations with Berlin after the strain caused by Russian support, Xinhua news agency reported. He gave the same promise to French President Emmanuel Macron on February 15 and to the Deputy Prime Minister of Italy on February 16. He pointed out that the Chinese economy has improved significantly after the lifting of the quarantine in connection with Covid-19.

On February 16, Mitch McConnell, chairman of the Republican Party in the US Senate, said that China, along with Iran, is helping the Russian Federation fight Ukraine. According to him, the incident with a Chinese balloon over the United States proved that Beijing is in open conflict with Washington.

A day ago, it was learned that China supports Iran in its conflict with the USA and the West. During a meeting with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said Beijing opposes “foreign powers” alleged meddling in Iran’s internal affairs.
