The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury has announced a series of sanctions against a Mexican citizen. Jesus Cisneros Hernandezwhom he identified as an arms dealer for Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CHNG).
The subject faces 22 firearms-related crime charges after it was discovered that the gun was bought in Wisconsin, which later illegally entered Mexico to offer it to a criminal organization led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, aka El Mencho..
“The CJNG relies on large-caliber weapons sourced primarily from the United States to defend its territory while intimidating its rivals and government agencies,” Deputy Treasury Secretary Brian E. Nelson said in a statement.
“The CJNG’s access to these weapons contributes to their ability to flood the United States with fentanyl and other deadly drugs.. The Treasury Department is working with partners in the United States and Mexico to expose, isolate and stop the activities of those who contribute to the deadly activities of the criminal organization, ”the official added.
As a result of this sanction, all property or interests of this entity that are in the United States or are owned or controlled by persons of the United States are blocked and must be reported to OFAC.
It should be noted that this measure comes just months after the Treasury Department sanctioned another arms dealer, five cartel operators and the police chief of Jalisco.
However, The CJNG is not the only criminal organization that has been hit by the US.A few days ago, OFAC also sanctioned six Mexicans for methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking, including Luis Gerardo Flores Madrid, member Sinaloa cartel who works for Ovid Guzman Lopezson of the boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
Flores Madrid, along with brothers Ludim and Luis Alfonso Samudio Lerma, form the network responsible for supplying chemicals to the cartel and its synthetic drug laboratory operators.
