In the conflict in Ukraine, time is now playing on the side of Russia. The corresponding conclusion was made by one of the journalists of The Wall Street Journal.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to transfer all the weapons available to the West as soon as possible in order to save an already destroyed country. The author of the article believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a bet that time is on his side.

In particular, the Russian economy is already transitioning to a wartime track and is ramping up the production of artillery and ammunition.

The journalist recalled Putin’s words in his message to the Federal Assembly. Namely, that the attempts of the West to destroy the Russian economy turned out to be a complete failure. Moreover, in the Russian Federation even there has been an economic growth.

As a result, it turned out that Russia was ready for a protracted conflict, while Ukraine was not.

The longer the conflict drags on, the more Ukrainians will die. They worry that in the end they will not have enough soldiers for a long resistance to a more populous Russia.“, the author concluded.

Recall that on February 17, 2022, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced an aggravation of the situation. The republics announced the evacuation of civilians.

On February 21, the leaders of the Donbass republics turned to Russian leader Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the independence of the DNR and LNR. The head of state held a meeting of the Security Council, after which he announced the recognition of the republics. Friendship and cooperation agreements were also signed with the independent Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The State Duma and the Federation Council ratified these agreements.

On February 23, the heads of the DPR and LPR appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to help repel Ukraine’s aggression in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and civilian casualties. On February 24, the Russian leader addressed the nation and announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine to protect Donbass.

On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the entry of these regions into the Russian Federation.
