Foot 40 cm: An American searches the world for shoes to fit his 14-year-old son (video)

According to Rebecca Kilburn, at the birth of the child, the obstetrician told the father that the newborn had the largest legs he had ever seen. The doctor correctly predicted that the children’s shoes would not fit their son, but the parents did not expect that they would have problems finding shoes for their son.

Rebecca Kilburn of Michigan looks around the world desperately to find someone who will make US size 23 shoes (foot 38-40 cm) for her son at an affordable price. Reported by USA Today.

14-year-old Eric Kilburn has health problems because he can’t find the right shoe size for him. This student is 208 cm tall and had to undergo six painful toe surgeries to correct ingrown toenails. As a result, he had to constantly remove nails from his big toes.

The publication states that Eric, who played on the junior varsity football team this fall, sprained his ankle. If he had been wearing cleats instead of sneakers, this wouldn’t have happened. For five years, the boy did not have sneakers or warm boots for the winter in Michigan.

“If I had shoes that fit me, I could have it all,” the teenager complains.

According to the mother, at the birth of the child, the obstetrician turned to his father, Eric Sr., and said that the newborn had the largest legs he had ever seen. The doctor correctly guessed that the children’s shoes would not fit his sons. But the parents did not expect that in the future they would have problems finding shoes for their son.

Eric Jr. When he was in first grade, his mother, who wore size 12 (28 cm) women’s shoes, had already put on her son’s shoes to go to the mailbox. And already in the seventh grade, the size of his feet became a serious problem.

Eric wore Crocs for two years with no other shoes in his size. She is currently wearing a size 22 (about 36cm) pair of Nikes that do not fit her.

Rebecca has spent countless hours over the past year searching the internet and searching for shoe companies and independent shoemakers like Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Under Armor and Red Wing Shoes. It is often said that they do not make shoes in this size.

A Nike spokesperson told Rebecca that the company would only produce shoes for her son if he became a professional athlete. The teenager dreams of playing in the National Football League (NFL), but his mother is still furious at the response.

The woman found a company in Italy that could help. She will cast her son’s feet and send it abroad, but she doesn’t know how much it will cost yet.

Now the family can afford shoes custom-made by an orthopedic specialist. They look like sneakers, but the size 22 is as cool as Nike and they’re not cheap at $1,500 a pair. And their insurance doesn’t cover it.
