A man in Russia stole nearly 12,000 lottery tickets but did not win.

Muscovite Andrei stole tickets in the amount of 1.3 million rubles from February to September 2022. He now faces up to ten years in prison.

In Moscow, from February to September 2022, a 50-year-old seller named Andrei was systematically engaged in the theft of lottery tickets. Reported by Ura.ru.

The man stole about 12,000 lottery tickets during his time at work. But none of them brought him the long-awaited win.

According to investigators, from February to September 2022, a Muscovite stole 11,979 tickets worth 1.3 million rubles, but there were no winning tickets among them. Now a 50-year-old man is accused of embezzlement on a particularly large scale. He now faces up to ten years in prison.

However, residents of another country were much luckier. In the Philippines, 433 people won the state lottery jackpot at the same time. As a result, people had to split 236 million pesos (about $4 million) among themselves. The results of the lottery caused a wave of anger and rage among the winners, and people began to demand an investigation into this “almost impossible” result of the lottery.

A mathematician came to the rescue. The scientist assures that everyone who buys a ticket has an equal chance of choosing all possible combinations. It has long been noticed that some combinations of numbers are much more popular than others.

The man believes that it is worth paying attention to the winning numbers – 9, 18, 27, 36, 45 and 54. Looking at these numbers and the multiplication table, a clear pattern of randomly drawn numbers can be traced. According to the mathematician, it was most likely this pattern that caught people’s attention.

Previously Focus He wrote that less than 50% of the 2 billion won was paid to the winner of the Powerball in the United States. American Edwin Castro could have received the full amount, but this would extend the 30-year payment. Therefore, the man chose another option, but received $997.6 million after deducting all taxes.

It was also reported that a man in Australia nearly “lost” the $26 million jackpot. The Western Australian resident turned out to be lucky. The winner of the Powerball lottery said that he got a lucky ticket just hours before the draw and then forgot about it.
