Washington is ready to send troops to Taiwan if China sends its own there. Michael McCall, Chairman of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, stated this.

According to him, this is the last measure, but the US Parliament will discuss it. Congress has the authority to send troops to other countries, though this hasn’t happened since World War II.

“I think if China invades Taiwan, which I think it will, the American people will support sending troops and Congress will follow suit.”– quotes McCall fox news.

Recall, on April 8, China announced a three-day military exercise around Taiwan. Shi Yi, a spokesman for the People’s Liberation Army Combat Command’s Eastern Zone, said this is a warning to Taiwanese separatists and their allies from other countries.
