The British authorities are discussing the possibility of tightening entry into the United Kingdom for residents of some states whose citizenship can be obtained under a simplified scheme. The Times writes about this, citing sources.

Thus, according to sources, the MI5 counterintelligence service warned the British government about the penetration into the country of Chinese intelligence officers posing as third-country nationals who enjoyed the right to visa-free entry into the UK.

The publication reports that the British intelligence services have fears that such a scheme could allegedly be used by representatives of Russian intelligence agencies, as well as persons who are involved in the transportation of illegal migrants to Britain.

According to the newspaper, Vanuatu, East Timor and Namibia also belong to the mentioned category of countries.

Times writes that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the British Foreign Office have different positions on the issue of tightening entry into the country.

The Foreign Ministry believes that visa-free entry into the kingdom can help improve relations with other countries.

The British Interior Ministry pays more attention to the fact that such measures increase the risk of possible foreign intelligence agents entering the country.

Earlier, The Guardian newspaper wrote that British civil servants last year took a record number of sick days due to mental health problems. Based on these data, the Labor Party concluded that there was a “mental health crisis” in the industry.
