According to journalists, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban avoids criticizing Putin, as he is condemned for this by representatives of the US and European countries.
The United States is about to take action against some who fled Western sanctions following the Russian Federation’s all-out invasion of Ukraine. According to Reuters, we are talking specifically about Hungarian nationals, citing a source familiar with the situation.
According to journalists, the source did not specify which Hungarian nationals they were referring to.
The publication also says that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban avoided negative evaluations of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions and was therefore criticized by the United States and European countries.
The journalists also referred to the statement of the head of the Orban administration, Gergely Gulyash, that the American embassy in Hungary is trying to influence the attitude of Budapest towards Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
The United States has not stopped pushing Hungary into a pro-war stance shared by many of our allies, but Hungary remains convinced that peace is the only common interest.
Recall that on April 11, 444.hu reported that a document was prepared by the United States, which stipulates sanctions against “influential persons” in Hungary. Journalists assumed that the American government’s decision would be made public on April 12.
We also wrote that on April 11, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó arrived in Russia, where he met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Alexander Novak and Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev.
According to media reports, as a result of negotiations between Szijjártó and Novak, Hungary agreed to additional Russian gas supplies. In addition, Budapest promised Ukraine pipeline operator Ukrtransnafta to pay for the transit of oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
