The US is destroying the European Union economically by forcing funding for Ukraine and increasing the cost of living. This opinion shared Director of the Swedish analytical center Transnational Foundation for Peace & Future Research Jan Oberg in an article for the Chinese newspaper Gobal Times.

“The United States is waging an economic war against Europe through the destruction of the Nord Streams, the costs of the Ukrainian crisis and energy prices‘, wrote the analyst.

He recalled that European leaders periodically voice proposals for peace, but the US authorities categorically deny any possibility of negotiations, thereby prolonging the conflict.

Oberg also voiced the position that the actual conflict between NATO and Russia is an attempt by the West to weaken Russia once and for all and then turn against China. NATO continues to deny negotiations and endlessly talks about “Ukraine’s victory.”

The analyst wonders what a “victory for Ukraine” should really look like and predicts that the country’s citizens will suffer more from the actions of the EU and NATO than from the conflict itself.

Finally, Oberg expresses his confidence that the Western path of “militarism and imperial domination” has proven to be disastrous for those who follow it, as well as for their neighbors. In his opinion, the establishment of peace in Ukraine is possible only through diplomacy, not military. At the same time, security in the country can be achieved only through the establishment of the neutral status of Ukraine, and not through its membership in NATO.

Russia has repeatedly declared its readiness for negotiations with Ukraine. However, as presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov pointed out, the Ukrainian authorities “absolutely deny” the talks.

The Kremlin spokesman drew attention to the fact that Kyiv does not show “political will” and does not enter into a dialogue with Moscow.

It is worth noting that the representatives of Kyiv themselves regularly voiced completely unrealistic conditions for starting negotiations.

Russia has repeatedly noted that in April the dialogue between Moscow and Kiev “under pressure from Western curators on the Ukrainian authorities” was interrupted. Now, as Lavrov said earlier, Moscow will proceed from the situation “on the ground” and will also take into account the unwillingness of a number of liberated regions to return under the control of the Kyiv authorities.
