The Kazan residents feared first a powerful explosion, and then the whirling columns of smoke. According to preliminary information from the media, an explosion was heard in the area of a tank training ground in the southern suburbs of Kazan.
Pillars of smoke were visible even to residents of the surrounding villages of Salmachi, Usady and Voznesenskoye.
At the same time, the local Telegram channel posted a photo from the scene. Local subscribers informed the channel management that the first explosion occurred in the Kuyukov area, and the next explosion was heard 20 minutes later near Usada.
The press service of the Tatarstan Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia assured reporters that no emergency has occurred in the city.
