HOUSTON – Authorities reported that a quarrel between high school students and the driver of the school bus they were riding was out of control.
The driver was charged with hitting a schoolboy with his foot and head.
Zamoderk Monreal Odom, 42, was arrested a week after the alleged incident. Odom accused of injuring a minor during a trip from Pershing High School April 12.
According to court documents, Odom testified that he ran into one of the students after he ordered several passengers off the bus at the 2700 block of Westridge Street, near the South Loop beltway. According to the police, this is not a regular stop on the route. 2
Odom said that he ran over a speed bump and several students started screaming and swearing, and then he told them to get out.
The quarrel escalated when the backpack of one of the unloading students hit the driver, after which the driver allegedly kicked the student in the head.
The student received a cut on his lower lip and complained of a headache.
According to investigators, the incident was filmed by a surveillance camera installed in the bus. The driver also insulted the students when they got out.
Odom was arrested Friday and is in jail on $15,000 bail.
