While Toño Pinheiro was building a house he bought in Lugo, in northwest Spain, he discovered money stuffed in Nesquik boxes.
In Spain, builder Toño Pinheiro found £47,000 worth of cash within the walls of his new home. The mirror talks about it.
The man found up to 6 safes of cash in different parts of his new home, where he plans to live when he retires.
The publication states that the coin found was the Spanish peseta, which ceased to be a legal tender in 2002, when the euro was adopted as the country’s new currency.
When Toño Pinheiro tried to exchange money, he learned that some notes were so old that they were not accepted at exchange offices. The man was told he had missed the deadline because the Bank of Spain had stopped accepting old banknotes, so it was worthless.
But the builder managed to get 30,000 pounds (just over 1.3 million hryvnia), replacing it with a more modern currency. Thanks to this, the man was able to pay for the replacement of the roof.
“I believe they kept the money in these jars to prevent moisture. The second one was slightly damaged, but the rest was not – they were ironed, it was amazing,” the builder said.
The Spaniard explained that the building had been abandoned for forty years before he found the house, and that the builder bought the house after seeing a Facebook ad. He added that he plans to keep some of the outdated banknotes as souvenirs.
Previously Focus He wrote that the man dug the house underground after arguing with his family. The hideout has Wi-Fi, speakers, and a coal stove. The man talked about his plans to expand the building.
It was also reported that when the man discovered a mysterious door in the basement of his new home, he encountered a situation reminiscent of a horror movie scenario. Access to it was blocked by a metal locker.
