This is how the area around the school in the center of Belgrade looks like now: police are everywhere, a cordon has been set up, forensic specialists and investigators continue to work on the territory.
According to the latest information, nine people were killed in the shooting, and seven more were injured. The offender appeared in the school building at about eight in the morning local time and immediately opened fire. The guard was the first to die, all the other victims were schoolchildren who at that moment were in the corridor. The attacker shot at everyone indiscriminately.
The nearest police units and special forces immediately moved to the place, the teenager was detained in the backyard of the school. Apparently, after the shooting, he was about to leave, but did not have time to escape.
Parents of students immediately came to the building for their children. The nearest roads were clogged with ambulances, doctors treated the injured, and the carriages continued to arrive.
The killer is a seventh grade student, 14 years old. He stole the gun from his father, thought it all out in advance, and today he came to implement his plan. During the search, two Molotov cocktails were also found in his backpack. As other students said, they did not even immediately understand what was happening.
“I had physical education, then I went upstairs to the classroom. At first I thought that someone was throwing firecrackers in the corridors and that there was nothing wrong with that, but after I saw how the guard … how he fell … I ran, and I told the first-aid post that they were shooting upstairs. Then we heard another knock, it became clear that someone else had been hit. “– says one of the students of the school.
According to eyewitnesses, it seemed to them that the perpetrator was under the influence of drugs during the attack. Nothing is known about his motives. Perhaps the reason could be a quarrel with a history teacher because of a bad grade.
