Russia intends to protect its interests abroad in the issue of the use by the West of the confiscated property of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, assured.

The Kremlin spokesman was asked if Russia was going to challenge the legal opinion of the European Commission, according to which Russian assets are allowed to be used to restore Ukraine.

Peskov said that this is an infringement on property rights, it is unacceptable. According to him, it will be necessary to see what justifications will be provided in the West.

“Therefore, we still need to see what they will present as a justification. And the fact that Russia will defend its interests to the extent possible, this should not raise doubts in anyone,” Peskov said.

Earlier, Andrei Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, said that sooner or later the United States would have to return all illegally frozen Russian assets. According to Klishas, in relation to the property of the Central Bank of the state, it is impossible to apply coercive measures in the form of recovery, arrest and execution of a decision in connection with proceedings in a court of another country.
