The electrification of the automotive sector includes several aspects. The police forces do not avoid this, as patrols constantly pass through the streets of the neighborhoods, urbanizations and highways, so the safety provided by the forces of law has a large impact on the environment due to the carbon emissions that are generated.
Namely, the US Police will now have the all-electric 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning as part of their fleet, which the manufacturer says has been specifically designed for these features.
“We are proud to offer this electric police van in the United States to local government customers who can use the innovative technology in it to increase their productivity,” said Nate Oscarson, sales manager for Ford Pro at the national government.
Characteristics
The truck has the necessary characteristics that a police officer needs for patrolling: comfortable, roomy and with the appropriate elements of work. Fabric seats are durable police seats with reduced bolsters that help police get in and out of the vehicle quickly. In addition, the front seats have steel skid plates built into the seatbacks.
There is a special tray on the dashboard to place all the necessary equipment on it, and of course there are police LED warning lights (red/blue, yellow/white) on the roof.
The mechanical part provides the necessary strength for the chase and grip on the asphalt. The power unit delivers 452 hp. with 775 lb-ft of torque, 7700 lb towing capacity and 2235 lb maximum payload.
The other option offers 580 hp, 775 lb-ft of torque5 and 10,000 lbs of towing capacity, both of which accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds. Fully equipped for work, the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning represents a new step in the electrification of the automotive sector, where over time we are faced with an increasing number of vehicles of this type for civil protection services.
