Taiwan’s chief of staff, Cai Yiwen, announced negotiations with the United States on the supply of weapons. The amount of “aid” from the United States is estimated at $500 million.

“Taiwan officials are negotiating with the administration of US President Joe Biden to send $500 million in arms aid. This aid is intended to address the problem of arms deliveries delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.“, – quotes Reuters Yiwen.

She promised that as soon as the responsible persons complete the negotiations, the public will know what kind of weapons the United States is ready to share.

Earlier, former Taiwan Defense Minister Feng Shikuan said the island would have to pay an “unthinkable price” for “help” from the United States.

Recall that China has repeatedly urged the United States to stop selling weapons to Taiwan and thereby create tension in the Taiwan Strait. Recently, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Beijing does not accept the US policy towards the island and asked not to make sense of the “one China” concept.

It should be noted that recently the presence of the United States in Asian countries is again increasing. This is indicated by joint military exercises with Japan and South Korea, assistance from Turkey and excessive interest in the situation in Chinese Taiwan. Many experts attribute the US actions to the country’s competition with China in the Asian region.
