Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong protested to the Japanese Ambassador in Beijing for vilifying China and inflating issues related to the country’s sovereignty at the G7 summit. The text of the protest is presented on the official website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

“Japan, along with other countries, denigrated China at the G7 events in Hiroshima, as well as in the joint statement of the G7. Such gross interference in China’s internal affairs is detrimental to the sovereignty, security and development interests of the country. In this regard, China expresses strong dissatisfaction and strong protest”the message says.

It is worth noting that at the last G7 summit, countries, among others, raised issues relating exclusively to China’s internal affairs. In particular, they talked about Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regions.

Sun Weidong also said that it is the US, not China, that poses the greatest risk to the international order and economy.
