It should be reminded that on March 28 the prosecutor of the Voronezh region filed an application with the regional court with a request to recognize the facts of massacres of the inhabitants of the region during the occupation by the Nazis from July 1942 to January 1943 as genocide. The initiator of the application was the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, as a result of the actions of the Nazis, at least 198 thousand residents of the Voronezh region and prisoners of war were killed, and almost 77 thousand people were forcibly driven away as slaves.
In addition, the territories divided into German, Hungarian and Italian zones of occupation were plundered, and the houses located on them were burned. In Voronezh itself, less than 8% of housing survived, and the city’s communal fund was destroyed by 92%. The total amount of material damage is estimated at 11.7 trillion rubles.
