The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council is convinced that Ukraine has a historic opportunity to recapture the occupied territories and remain a large and independent European country.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said in an interview with the Air Force on May 27 that the Ukrainian army is ready for a long-awaited counteroffensive, which may begin in the near future. At the same time, he did not specify a specific date, but noted that the offensive against Putin’s army to retake Ukraine’s occupied territory could begin “tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, or within a week”.
According to Danilov, the Ukrainian armed forces are ready and able to achieve the best results at this stage of the war. At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities are aware of the importance of the assigned tasks and they have no right to make mistakes in this matter.
“It may be tomorrow, the next day, or in a week. It would be strange if I told you the starting dates of some events. It is impossible … Our country faces a very responsible task. There is no right to be wrong,” said the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
He also emphasized that Ukraine has a historic opportunity to remain a large and independent European country and this opportunity should not be missed.
“In order for us to become a truly independent, great European country, we must understand that we cannot lose the historical opportunity that God has given us to our country,” said Danilov.
Recall that, according to the Institute of War Studies, the successful counterattack of the Ukrainian troops near Bakhmut did not allow the Russians to unblock the Wagner PMC units in the city. On May 26, analysts wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out successful counterattacks in the Orekhovo-Vasilievka and Kleshcheevka area, but the Wagnerians were still present in Bakhmut.
The New York Times observers noted that the departure of Wagner PMC fighters from Bakhmut will be a test for the regular Russian army, as the RF Armed Forces General Staff will need to find enough forces to fill the gap left on the front line. .
