President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is afraid to launch a counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of fear that Western weapons will not perform well on the battlefield, writes Asia Times.

Observers of the publication believe that Zelensky hesitates and delays the counteroffensive, despite the fact that Western countries have equipped the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Leopard tanks and other equipment.

“He is hesitant as Ukraine will not be able to fight in the air, and Western weapons may not work well due to signal failures,” – said the authors of the article.

Experts talk about the significant numerical superiority of the Russian army, as well as the good equipment that the RF Armed Forces have.

The Asia Times also announced a personnel problem in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So, in the Ukrainian troops there are many recruits who are poorly trained. Inexperienced fighters are likely to negatively affect the outcome of the UAF counteroffensive.

On May 15, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, once again said that Kyiv needs even more time to prepare a counteroffensive.

At the same time, on May 24, adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Mikhail Podolyak, in an interview with the Rai 1 TV channel, said that the counteroffensive had allegedly been going on for several days.

Earlier, retired US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that the Ukrainian army, most likely, simply cannot launch a counteroffensive. He stressed that Kyiv is experiencing a serious shortage of soldiers, and the nine brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine trained in NATO countries will not achieve the necessary results.
