The judge gave DHS 7 days to decide whether to hand over Prince Harry’s immigration papers.

The federal judge gave Department of Homeland Security (DHS) one week to decide whether to disclose available immigration information about Prince Harryin response to a lawsuit filed by The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank alleging that Prince Harry may have lied about drug use in his Visa Application.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife moved to Southern California. meghan markle, the US citizen and her young family in 2020, after they left British royal life and embarked on new projects, including the release of her memoir Spare in January.

Harry wrote in “Spare” that he had used cocaine several times since the age of 17. He also admitted to using cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms.

At a hearing Thursday in Washington, Judge Carl Nichols ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to decide by June 13 whether to hand over some documents relating to the prince’s immigration status to The Heritage Foundation, national media reported.

The Heritage Foundation, in a lawsuit against DHS to obtain immigration information from the Duke of Sussex, alleges that he may have received a visa irregularly.

The think tank noted in Tuesday’s hearing that the prince may have lied on his visa application, in the section where people are asked about their drug use.

There is a section on US immigrant visa forms that asks the applicant to indicate if they have used drugs in the past.

On Tuesday, one of the lawyers representing the foundation told the court that the lawsuit concerns not only the case of Prince Harry, but also about “compliance with immigration laws.”

For their part, lawyers representing the government argued that there was no need to turn over the documents to the think tank because there was “no broad public interest” in the US in the matter.
