NATO soldiers can take a direct part in the conflict in Ukraine. The corresponding statement was made by the former secretary general of the alliance Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

He believes that some NATO states may actually discuss sending troops to Ukraine if the US and other members of the bloc do not provide Kyiv with “security guarantees” at the Vilnius summit.

This may look like a “coalition of the willing” to send troops to Ukraine. It can be formed by the Baltic countries and Poland, according to The Guardian.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine will take part in the NATO summit, which will be held in July in Vilnius. According to experts, the countries do not want to see Kyiv among the capitals of the participating countries, but they will try to convince him of further cooperation.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he wants to hear an unambiguous answer on the issue of Ukraine’s entry into NATO after the end of the special military operation. However, most of the Alliance member countries are not ready to accept Ukraine. Only the United States said that Ukraine has a chance to join NATO, but only after a common decision of all participating countries.
