The results of the inventory revealed that in Germany there are only enough bunkers and bomb shelters for 0.5% of the population. WirtschaftsWoche wrote about it.
According to the publication, a year ago, the inventory began to be carried out by specialists from the Federal Office for Real Estate and the Federal Office for Public Protection and Disaster Relief. Now the first results have appeared.
As it turned out, there are only enough bomb shelters for 0.5% of the country’s population.
“Currently, about 580 objects can still be used to protect citizens,” – sends the magazine.
It is noted that in these 580 bomb shelters there are a little less than 480 thousand places.
It is known that by the mid-1990s, Germany stopped building bunkers and bomb shelters, assuming that, due to the end of the Cold War, they would no longer be needed. In some cases, according to the publication, the bunkers were sold to private individuals.
After the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, the German federal government temporarily suspended the dismantling of bomb shelters, which had begun back in 2007. It was decided to resume their use.
Earlier, The Times newspaper wrote that the British military is too weak to resist Russia. Experts warned that in the event of a major military conflict in Europe, one cannot rely on American troops either.
