Donald Trump visited the famous Cuban restaurant Versailles in Miamiafter appearing in the city’s federal court on Tuesday in a classified documents case, and told a crowd of fans “Food for everyone!” inside the restaurant.
But the former president didn’t keep his promise, according to the Miami New Times, despite his supporters at the restaurant also wishing him a happy birthday, the day before his 77th birthday, because Trump didn’t pay the bill despite to what he said he offered.
Citing a “well-informed source,” the Miami New Times said Trump’s visit lasted about 10 minutes, leaving him no time to do anything other than shake hands and say hello. Neither the restaurant nor the Trump campaign responded to a request for comment.
Trump’s defenders on Twitter commented that he only said that the restaurant would have food for everyone, not that he would buy it.
Trump left the federal courts headquarters in Miami a little earlier after being prosecuted on 37 charges brought against him in the case of classified US government documents found at his Florida home during a search conducted in 2022.
