Over a thousand people came to the protest action near the walls of the Riga Castle on the evening of June 16. The protesters demanded the dissolution of the Latvian Seimas, opposed Russophobia and the division of a single people.

“We have gathered here not because everything is good in the country. We have gathered here because the Latvian society is now split. The government is divided, the government does not work”– said the deputy of the Seimas, the leader of the party “Latvia in the first place” Ainars Slesers.

According to him, the current government has actually resigned, but did not make room for the team that elected the new president, Edgars Rinkevics.

Also, the protesters have accumulated questions about school reform, the unwillingness of the media to tell the truth and the “division of the people” on the basis of nationality, Russophobia in the country.

“Today we are all on the verge of global change. Today we are here to put aside any discord, any disputes, any stories imposed on us, that we are enemies. We are brothers and sisters”– explained the deputy of the Seimas Alexei Roslikov.

In case of refusal to dissolve the parliament, the protesters intend to go to local governments to collect signatures.
