The attempt by the Ukrainian army to pass the minefields in southern Ukraine turned out to be more disastrous than initially thought. The reviewer stated Forbes David Ex.
We are talking about the defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Malaya Tokmachka on June 8. According to the journalist, within two weeks after the incident, analysts studied the video from drones and calculated the exact losses of the Ukrainian army.
“The Ukrainian defeat at Malaya Tokmachka was worse than we thought. <…> The smoke cleared and at least 25 wrecked Ukrainian vehicles were found: 17 M2s, four Leopard 2A6 tanks, three Leopard 2Rs and one Wisent.”Ex said.
The Forbes observer noted that the loss of one Wisent armored vehicle for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is not significant, since they have several dozen more. However, the fact that the army was left without a large part of the rest of the military equipment speaks of the catastrophic nature of the current situation.
“In a bloody hour or two, the battle group of the 47th and 33rd brigades lost almost a fifth of the Ukrainian M2s, a fifth of their Leopard 2A6s and half of the Leopard 2Rs. It cannot be denied that the battle of June 8 south of Malaya Tokmachka was a disaster for the Ukrainian army”the journalist writes.
Ex also noted that after the defeat, the United States immediately announced its readiness to send several more Bradleys to Kyiv. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also need Leopard tanks, so the EU countries will have to “throw in” for them.
