Ukraine and Sweden signed an agreement on military cooperation. According to him, the countries will exchange confidential data important for the development of the Gripen aircraft by the Ukrainians.
Sweden and Ukraine have pledged to expand military cooperation, agreeing to exchange classified information and improve the supply of defense equipment in the future. He writes the Euractiv publication about it.
According to journalists, on Wednesday (July 12th) the countries signed two agreements before Sweden’s official entry into NATO. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Junson and representatives of the Swedish Military Equipment Department attended the signing of the documents.
“Sweden has a lot of good deals, this is an important thing that can make a big difference,” said Johan Hjelmstrand, spokesman for the defense minister.
It is reported that Sweden and Ukraine can exchange classified information, which is a necessary condition for Ukraine to dominate the Swedish Gripen fighters.
In addition, as indicated in the material, Ukraine will be able to purchase defense equipment under Swedish contracts, including through the Swedish defense industry. So as soon as Sweden meets its defense needs, the surplus can be shared with Ukraine.
“Whether it’s a support package or whether they pay for it themselves, it’s not part of what’s on offer today,” said Hjelmstrand.
Recall that Reznikov has already talked about an agreement with Sweden. The document regulates the provision of measures for the mutual protection of information with limited access by the parties.
Also on July 8, the head of the Ministry of Defense showed the CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles that Sweden delivered to Ukraine. He thanked Swedish Minister of Defense Paul Junson and all Swedish people for providing military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
