He former head of security for the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community of Brooklyn, New York, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of sexual abuse of a teenager.
A guilty plea allows Jacob Daskal, who led a local watchdog group called Shomrim, to escape trial for being raped a 15 year old girl.
Under the plea agreement, Daskal must register as a sex offender, according to the US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, cited by the AP.
The authorities stated that Daskal sexually abused a girl for three months in 2017 and was arrested in 2018.
“The defendant admitted that he abused his power, trust and position in society by committing deplorable acts against a child in his care,” US Attorney Breon Peace said.
Daskal faces at least 14 years in prison.
This man headed the Borough Park Shomrim Society, an Orthodox Jewish anti-crime group affiliated with the New York City Police Department.
