Would change the rules: Former US Army officer advises to provide APU with cluster shells for HIMARS

For Ukraine to win, it is enough for the US to send 2,000 cluster munitions for HIMARS. Bullets can be bought from warehouses in Germany, where they are ready for simple destruction.

The US government has the ability to supply the Armed Forces with cluster munitions for the HIMARS MLRS, but has not yet provided them. Former US Army officer Dan Rice is confident that this type of projectile will help unlock the fortifications of the Russian Armed Forces and bring victory closer. This is stated in a Newsweek article,

Rice remembered what Ukraine now has: it bought 155mm DPICM (Dual-purpose developed conventional ammunition) musket shells from the US. The Armed Forces of Ukraine can fire them at a distance of up to 25 km and hit the enemy directly from the front line.

However, the Americans have another type of projectile in their arsenal – the M26 DCIPM. The United States should have provided this to Ukraine, but has not yet.

The M26 DCIPM projectile is used by the HIMARS MLRS and can hit the enemy at a distance of up to 45 km. Rice is confident that from this distance, the missile will reach the Russian artillery, which has damaged the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

If the Armed Forces of Ukraine have both types of muskets, they will destroy the enemy’s manpower in a wide strip both on the front line and in the rear. And this, according to the officer, will help accelerate the victory of Ukraine: “The Russian front battalions will be destroyed, and the rear echelon will be destroyed.”

Rice also named the number of rounds that would bring victory – we are talking about 2,000 M26 DCIPM: “If you get 2000 cluster rockets, I think the war will be over.”

The officer recalled that tens of thousands of such ammunition are currently in warehouses in Germany and are preparing to destroy them. He recommends giving them to Ukraine to win.

Note that the US government announced in July 2023 that it was supplying cluster munitions to Ukraine. Prior to this, there was discussion for weeks about how dangerous it was for these weapons to appear in the country. According to media reports, the Ukrainian government has committed to fulfill a number of conditions to obtain this type of BC.

We remind you that on August 16, Adviser to the Minister of Defense Anna Malyar reported on the achievements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south. According to him, the Defense Forces liberated the village of Urozhaynoye, not far from Staromayorsky on the Wet Yaly River.

Meanwhile, the previous day, on August 15, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the southern part of the front. The head of state met with the soldiers of several brigades conducting offensive operations in Zaporozhye.
