Not until next spring: Netherlands estimates training time for F-16 pilots

Ukrainian pilots have to wait indefinitely while a training center is being prepared in Romania. However, while the Netherlands was preparing everything for education, they had the opportunity to study in Denmark.

Dutch officials talked about some details of supplying F-16 warplanes to Ukraine. In particular, they stated that the deliveries depend on the period during which Ukrainian pilots will be trained. This is stated in an article published by The Netherlands Times.

Pilots from Ukraine (and other NATO partner countries) will learn how to fly the F-16 at a special training center in Romania. For this, Denmark will even send its own warplanes there, especially for training.

However, the publication noted that as of today, the training center does not yet exist. Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren has announced that her country will assist Romania in this case.

It is unclear exactly when the center will become operational. But Ollongren said in August that the pilots will not wait for the inauguration: from next month they will travel to Denmark and begin training there. According to him, the estimated duration of training is 6-8 months, that is, until February-April 2024.

from twitter clerk Confirmed that the US has authorized the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. It also announced some of the next steps it will take, together with other European partners.

Note that on August 18, the United States confirmed that it had authorized the supply of F-16 warplanes. A White House spokesman said they will make all additional approvals so that the delivery of these planes is finally possible.

So far, there is no official information on how many aircraft the Ukrainian Armed Forces can receive from Denmark and the Netherlands. However, the WORLD AIR FORCE 2-23 guide shows how many F-16As these countries have in total: Netherlands – 39, Denmark – 33 units.

F-16 Fighting Falcon: What makes this plane special?

The F-16 is a multi-purpose fighter aircraft manufactured by the American company Lockheed Martin. The aircraft is equipped with a six-barreled M61A1 Vulcan 6 gun and 11 rocket launch pods. The F-16C modification is capable of Mach 2.05 (up to 2178 km/h), can fly at an altitude of 15 km and has a combat range of about 500 km.

We remind you that Yuriy Ignat, the representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, confirmed a few days ago that Ukraine does not have a chance to get an F-16 this year. This means that the energy infrastructure will not receive the additional protection one might hope for.

When the F-16s finally arrive, they will strengthen the Ukrainian air defense – they will drive away the Russian planes. They can also be used to destroy Russian warships.
